Hoosier

Hoosier

Hoosier Racing Tire boasts a remarkable history, rooted in the American Dream, where two ambitious Indiana entrepreneurs transformed a personal vision into reality. In the early 1950s, Bob Newton and his supportive wife, Joyce, embarked on a successful racing career on the modest asphalt tracks of northern Indiana. However, like many fellow drivers, Bob found conventional street tires limiting in terms of sizing options and tread compounds. It was during these formative years that he conceived the idea of crafting tires specifically tailored for racing. In 1957, Bob and Joyce took the bold step of producing their own race tires by re-treading street tires with softer compounds. Their journey commenced in an abandoned horse barn in South Bend, Indiana, where they began offering their tires to local racers. The name "Hoosier" was chosen for their company to pay homage to Bob's racing origins on the short tracks of the Midwest, with the iconic purple color symbolizing the Hoosier Tire brand, inspired by Bob's first race car.
