The ExtremeContact Sport is a Max Performance Summer tire designed for sports cars, performance sedans, and luxury vehicles. It offers a combination of high performance in both dry and wet conditions, along with a smooth and comfortable ride. This tire should not be used or stored in freezing temperatures, snow, or icy conditions. The ExtremeContact Sport features a specialized compound and an asymmetric design with five or six ribs, depending on the size. It incorporates Continental's SportPlus Technology, which focuses on precise handling, wet traction, and long-lasting performance. The wide tread blocks on the outside shoulder provide excellent grip and handling at high speeds, while the continuous center rib ensures a solid on-center feel. The optimized footprint distributes pressure evenly across the tire for improved tread life. Additionally, the +Silane tread compound technology enhances grip in damp conditions, and the deep grooves help water flow through the tire to reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Performance Indicators molded into the tread pattern offer a quick assessment of the tire's suitability for dry and wet conditions. Internally, the ExtremeContact Sport tire has a strong construction with a polyester or rayon cord body casing and two-ply sidewalls for added stiffness without compromising comfort. It consists of two high-tensile steel belts and two spirally wound polyamide cap plies for high-speed capability. It is important to note that if the tire is exposed to temperatures below 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C), it should be allowed to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before any adjustments in inflation pressures, mounting on wheels, or usage. Exposure to cold temperatures can cause irreversible cracking of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires. This cracking is not covered under warranty and tires with compound cracking must be replaced.
