The Hankook Kinergy 4S2 is a versatile all-season tire designed for sedans, coupes, and wagons. It offers excellent traction on both dry and wet surfaces, as well as stability in wintry conditions. The tire meets the industry's requirements for severe snow service and is marked with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF). To enhance its performance, the Kinergy 4S2 uses a new Aqua pine tread compound with high loading silica and innovative additives. These materials improve traction across a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. The V-shaped tread pattern incorporates various technologies to ensure traction and performance throughout the year. By increasing the tread pattern's pitch count and variation, noise is reduced while providing more biting edges for grip in adverse weather. Lateral tread blocks enhance dry road cornering and allow water to escape through broad lateral grooves. The tire also features summer sipes within the tread blocks for traction in slippery conditions, without compromising road connection and handling precision. It includes concave tie-bars and aqua slant technology to improve tread block stability and resist hydroplaning. In winter conditions, 3D sipes within the tread blocks create aggressive biting edges for better performance. Serrated edge grooves and slush edge features enhance cornering in snow and slush, enhancing grip and stability. Internally, the Kinergy 4S2 is constructed with an Equilibrium polyester carcass line for sidewall stiffness and durability. A high-hardness bead filler improves handling and steering response. The wide steel belt layer uses folded belt edge tape for stability and a jointless, full-cover reinforcement belt for predictable handling and high-speed performance. It's important to note that while tires with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol provide better snow traction than all-season tires without the symbol, they do not match the performance of dedicated winter tires in all severe weather conditions.
