Nankang has focused on performance when creating the Sportnex CR-S, using a new tread compound that reaches optimal temperature quickly. The tread design is asymmetrical and built for speed, with outer tread elements for maximum lateral grip and grooves to dissipate heat and prevent hydroplaning. The internal construction includes polyester casing, steel belts, and an Aramid cap ply to enhance handling and high-speed capability. It is important to note that tires exposed to very low temperatures must gradually return to warmer temperatures before any adjustments or use, as cold-weather use can cause irreversible cracking in the tire compound.
