Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 RUN FLAT
Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires are the third generation of Pirelli's Sottozero Performance Winter/Snow run-flat tires. These tires are designed for drivers of high-performance vehicles who face challenging winter road conditions and drive their cars throughout the year. The Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires come equipped with Pirelli's Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology, which ensures temporary extended mobility in case of a puncture that results in complete loss of air pressure. This technology allows the tires to continue running flat for up to 50 miles at speeds of 50 mph, unless otherwise specified by the vehicle manufacturer for Original Equipment tires. The Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires are engineered to perform in various unpredictable weather conditions. They offer excellent traction and handling on cool, cold, dry, wet, and wintry surfaces, making them suitable for cold weather and freezing road conditions. The innovative compound used in these tires contains specialized polymers that enhance the mechanical, thermal, and dynamic properties of the tread rubber. The directional pattern of the compound features arrow-shaped center blocks and rounded shoulders, which effectively expel water and slush. Additionally, the high-density 3D sipe technology enhances braking performance and traction on snow-covered surfaces. Internally, the Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires are equipped with twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped polyamide. This reinforcement enhances thermal stability and reduces the tire's sensitivity to changes in road and air temperatures. Pirelli's extended mobility solution is made possible through their MIRS computer-controlled robotized manufacturing system, ensuring consistent application of additional sidewall reinforcements that provide the self-supporting run-flat capability. These winter/snow tires comply with the industry's severe snow service requirements and are distinguished by the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. It is important to note that Pirelli recommends installing the Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires in sets of four to ensure optimal handling characteristics and tire performance. While they are not classified as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer similar characteristics by providing limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture. However, they should not be substituted in situations where a conventional run-flat tire is needed. To determine the appropriate tire for your vehicle, refer to the Original Equipment tire listing for your specific year, make, and model, or consult your vehicle owner's manual. Related Information: The three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol indicates that the Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat tires meet the criteria for severe snow service.
