The HTR Enhance LX2 is a Standard Touring All-Season tire from Sumitomo. It is specifically designed for drivers of coupes, family sedans, and small crossovers. This tire aims to provide responsive handling, long life, and all-season traction, including light snow conditions. To achieve these characteristics, the HTR Enhance LX2 utilizes a high-silica, super microparticulate carbon compound. This compound enhances both the strength and flexibility of the tire, resulting in improved wear and wet traction. The tire's asymmetric tread pattern also contributes to its all-season performance and reliable handling, even as the tire wears. To prevent irregular wear, the HTR Enhance LX2 has optimized groove depth and even pressure distribution throughout the contact patch. This feature improves the usable life of the tire. In wet conditions, the high silica content of the compound enhances grip, while the straight, circumferential grooves and wide, lateral notches effectively evacuate water for hydroplaning resistance. For traction in snow and on ice, the HTR Enhance LX2 has an increased number of sipes in the tread pattern. These sipes create more biting edges, further enhancing traction. Additionally, the tire utilizes 3D zigzag sipes to retain tread block rigidity for improved handling. Cross-designed chamfers also help retain snow in the tread, providing snow-to-snow traction. The internal construction of the HTR Enhance LX2 features a 2-ply polyester casing beneath two wide, high-rigidity steel belts. This construction enhances stability at high speeds. Furthermore, a spirally wound nylon reinforcement contributes to the tire's high-speed stability, while a high modulus bead insert improves steering response.
